Crib is up, kinda :)

Matt spent last Saturday putting the crib together. Like most things in my life, it wasn't as easy as it sounds. The first problem surfaced right away, the holes where some dowl type things go wern't big enough. Matt wanted to drill the holes to make them bigger. I was TOTALLY against this. For those of you who know my husband, you know that careful and cautious are not words normally associated with him. I was terrified!!! He did end up drilling the holes bigger, I couldn't watch. I was just imagining him drilling right through the wood and ruining the crib. Luckily, the only damage was a little bit of drill point hit the part you can see. Matt, of course, didn't think this is a big deal. Oh well, it worked. It took some time, but with the help of Avery & Isabella, Matt got the crib together and from first appearance it looks beautiful. On closer inspection I found cracks in 5 slats in the headboard, and 1 slat in the left rail. Oh, I was not happy!!!!! I knew that we bought the last crib at the store, but I contacted the store we bought the crib at anyway. They wern't able to replace the parts but contacted the manufacturer to see if they could replace them. The manufacturer wanted me to contact them directly so I finally got a hold of them today and they have the pieces in stock and will ship them directly to our house. We should receive them in a week or two and Matt gets to take the crib apart and then put it all back together again.
I really couldn't see the crib together and not put the bedding in, even if it will be taken apart. I washed all the bedding and even ironed both the sheets and curtains. Once again, there are problems!!!! The bedding I have is for a traditional crib with a headboard on the left or right, the convertible crib has the headboard in the back. The bumper pad we have had a piece for the headboard and a second piece for around the rest of the crib. I McGyvered it into place. The ties aren't in the right spots and it is a little tight, but the bumper pads are really only for looks anyways since you remove them by the time the baby is able to roll around. I think it looks ok. Hopefully this weekend someone can help Matt carry the dresser upstairs, and Matt can hang the curtain rod we bought so I can get the rest of the room looking like a nursery.
This is starting to be a lot of fun :-)
On an ending note... I think I may have felt the baby move the other day. I know it's early, but I was at the dentist sitting in the dentist chair for an hour in the same position when I felt this bubble type think in my belly. I really did think it was an air bubble at first, but it didn't feel quite like an air bubble so that is why I think it may have been the baby. Hopefully I will feel it again soon!!!!!

I think it's a Girl!!!

Week 13 stats:
Baby Weight: .5 to .75 oz
Baby length: 2 1/2 to 3 inches
Baby heartbeat: 155 bpm
My weight: 151
Weight Gain: 4lbs
It's been a while since I've posted. I tried when I got home from London, but it wasn't working so I got frustrated and gave up. Yes, that would be what I inherited from my Dad.
Some big things have happened the past few weeks. Matt went to Vegas to watch the UFC fight. He didn't win any money, but he didn't lose either so I consider it a win. Matt thought of me when he was there, and brought me home a present. He bought me a Hooter's T-shirt!! Not only is it a Hooter's t-shirt, it's 2 sizes too small. Isn't' that what every woman wants ??
I had a lot of fun in London and it was great to see family and friends in Wisconsin. The only downfall was the news I received upon landing in the U.S. Pat, my Mom's husband, passed away while I was in London. He was very young, but very sick. I know he is no longer in pain, but it is very hard to see everyone else missing him. R.I.P. Pat
On a much happier note, we had another doctor's appointment today. Everything is fine, and we heard the baby's heartbeat. It took a while to find the heartbeat, but once she found it, the heartbeat was nice and strong. The baby's heartbeat is 155 beats per minute. The old wives' tale says that a high pre-natal heartbeat is a girl, since the first heartbeat was 167 and now 155 I may be in luck and get my baby girl!! Matt is dead certian it's a boy. He has been having a reccuring dream that we have a boy, and the boy has the same name every time. He likes the name so we are going to stick with it, which is very good since we were at a loss for a boy's name. If we have a boy it will be Parker James, a little girl will be Payton Rhys. I love both names and I think they sound good together when we have our second child.
We also went shopping last week and bought a new crib and dresser. I know that we had a used crib and dresser from my Mom, but I decided I wanted a matching one. Our new crib is a convertible crib so we will be able to use it for a long time. Matt has also made it clear the baby is NOT going to be sharing our bed so the baby will definitely use the crib. Both the crib and dresser are very sturdy which make me feel safer that they won't tip if we have a climber.
Well, the rest of June should be a relatively quiet month. We will be spending a lot of time working on our house and getting the baby's room ready. We are also re-organizing the garage and having the back yard landscaped. Our next doctor's appointment is on July 11th (Maddox's 1st birthday), and our next ultrasound will be the week of July 20th.
Hope you are all enjoying the summer!!
